What it measures

Our measure of the dollar liquidity the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet leaves in the financial system: the Fed’s total assets, less the cash the Treasury holds at the Fed, less the cash money market funds park at the Fed overnight.

Source: TrendArc, from the Federal Reserve Board’s H.4.1 release (total assets, WALCL, less the Treasury General Account, WTREGEN) and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s overnight reverse repo results (RRPONTSYD).
